I lodged a claim for a burst water pipe which ruined the Kitchen sink cupboard, after lodging the claim I had to phone about six times to get someone to sort out an inspection of the premises the chap that eventually assisted went into work one Saturday morning as my claim was taking so long, after five weeks they sent an "Independent Assessor" out to the house, three weeks later after not hearing from them I had to call them then wait two days for a call back to say my claim had been refused as the burst pipe had occurred over a period of time, this is typical of insurance companies they take your money willingly but when it comes to a claim that is another subject I would not recommend ABSA to anyone.
